Filter by “Race and cultural competency” under “Specialties” to view therapists who have demonstrated their expertise in social identities. Geographic limitations can make it difficult to find a therapist who matches your identities. However, some therapists have extensive experience and choose to focus their practice on unpacking social identities and the impact of power and privilege.

You can also ask therapists more specific questions about their comfort level and experience working with individuals who share your identities on an initial call. Social workers (LCSWs/LICSWs) typically have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds.

All ethical therapists should be respectful of your background; if you have an experience with a Zencare therapist that is counter to this policy, let us know.
